PET考试的小技巧 | PET 听力小解

PET听力考试一共30分钟，分为4个大题，25个小题，包括选择题和填空题，内容取材于对话或独白。

PET通过也即英语达到B1水平，学生基本掌握英语，能够听懂关于日常生活的一些讨论以及公告通知，能够把握其中的细节信息以及识别人物的观点态度。可见PET考试是十分关注英语在日常生活当中的应用能力。

相比于KET，PET听力难度增长主要体现在以下几方面:

1.词汇量大，语篇增长

2.转折更多，复杂句多

3.套路更多，意图难辨

那么我们如何应对这些挑战呢？

一、重点记忆，练习积累

KET对考生词汇要求为1500，但PET对考生要求为3500，词汇量上有一个较大的增长。针对这一方面，学生需要重点背诵记忆PET官方词汇。另一方面，对于同义替换的考察比例和难度都有提升。

KET考试当中，比较常见的同义替换的形式是近义词，如“smart”和“intelligent”, “cousin”和“relatives”，学生在日常生活中多做积累就可以应对此种类型的考题；而PET的考察模式大多数是需要一定的逻辑推理，如“the new classmate is clever” 对应的是“he answered at least twice as many questions as I did during the math class.”学生需要从给的现象或例子中总结，并与给出的选项比对意思，才能做出正确选择，而逻辑思维的培养也可通过日常练习得以提高。

二、熟记连词，攻克从句

连词在PET听力中有大量的应用，高频的有以下这些:

1.表因果：because, so

2.表转折:  but, though

3.表让步:  though, even though, although

4.表条件：if，as long as, unless

学生只有牢记连词的意思，才能更好地理解复杂句。从句在PET中的类型也更多样，频率也更高，有些复杂句甚至会出现如俄罗斯套娃一般的从句套从句的现象。如下例句：

Even though I practice between the sessions with my family, I'm sure l'd improve more quickly if someone showed me a few other skills. That's why I need your help. When I watch you play, I can see you doing loads of things l'd like to be able to do, but I forget how you do them as soon as I go home. 

仅仅三句话，就出现了让步状语从句，条件状语从句，时间状语从句，宾语从句，表语从句和定语从句。所以，扎实地把握三大类从句，才能更好应对PET考试。

三、把握句型，警惕陷阱

1.表达喜欢的句型和词组，适应与正面选：

I prefer… / I’d prefer…

I’ll…/ I’d… / I’d rather…

I am sure…

How about…? / Why not…?

I wouldn’t mind…

Instead, …

2.表达不喜欢句型和词组，适应与排除法：

I am tired of…/ I am fed up with…/ I can’t stand…

I hate…/ I dislike…

I don’t think…

instead of…

rather than…

准确把握上面给出句型是识别意图观点的基础，另外把握容易设置陷阱的点也比较重要。

比如，在part3经常有对时刻的考察，常见的话题是集体活动。一般音频中会给出几个相似时间：集合时间、点名时间、出发时间，而选其中一个来出题，那么学生在做题时千万不能听到一个就认为是答案，一定要弄清楚问的到底是哪个。

另外不能根据自己的预设思路来判断答案，很多题目是不走寻常路的。如下题：

You will hear a girl talking about her big brother going away to college. How does she feel about it?

A：pleased there's less noise

B：surprised that she's so sad

C：upset he's gone so far away

按照常规思路，哥哥去上学，妹妹自然舍不得哥哥而不开心，就会选C。但原文是妹妹自以为终于可以摆脱哥哥的噪音轰炸了，但实际上还是很想念哥哥而泪流满面，说话者更侧重表达对这个新发现的惊讶。惊不惊喜，意不意外？

Boy: Has your brother gone away to college yet?

Girl: Yeah, he left yesterday. I thought l'd be relieved not to have to listen to music coming from his bedroom all evening. I couldn't believe it when tears actually started running down my cheeks last night, and this morning, too, when he wasn't at breakfast.

Boy: I never knew you two were so close.

Girl: We weren't. You just get used to someone being there, though, and when they're suddenly not, it's strange, even though I know he hasn't gone hundreds of kilometres away like some students do. He'll probably be back most weekends.
