话说明图的大意:Shown in the chart are historical numbers of applications for a university’s four courses and the forecast for the year of 2025. 注意下划线部分是引起了一个倒装句(主语和系动词位置颠倒的倒装),这种倒装结构可以当成模板套用。同时注意:柱、饼图惯用bar,线图惯用graph。The general view is clear: popularity varies markedly from course to course. 第二句话中,注意冒号的用法,即冒号用来引起一个针对前半句所述情况的更具体的说明。
Body
先写历史:History is noteworthynot only for its low popularity in both 2008 and 2013, as the applicants numbered only in the hundreds each year, but also for the forecast that the number of applicants, despite some increase, will remain below 1000. 尤其注意:只有一个句子,一个由not only but also贯穿的句子。语法上首先注意平行结构的要求,其次注意as引导的状语从句对前半句的情况做了状语修饰。最后注意number作为动词的用法,此处为不及物动词,意思“计数为,计数是”。后面的in the hundreds 表计数方式。numbered only in the hundreds的意思是“以百来计数”。
